Description: |
Slides depict scenery like views of Mount Fuji and lakes or rice paddies. A good part of the material deals with craftsmen and their workshops, stores and merchandise displays as well as farmers in the fields or peasants with water wheels. Also includes some documentation of silk production and tea harvesting. Religious ceremonies and temples, pilgrimages and shrines (in Tokyo, Kyoto, Yokohama, etc.) are also shown. The ethnic minority, the Ainu people, are recorded on a few slides. Although many of the slides are of architecture, they also show various aspects of life in Japan. |
