Historical: The Roosevelt children had been left to live and study in Dresden, where their cousins were staying, while mother Martha and elder sister Anna continued the Roosevelt family's second Grand Tour, and Theodore, Sr., returned to New York to ready a new family home. The five children formed the Dresden Literary American Club (motto: "We are no asses!").
