Description:  Collection of 188 glass negatives, including images of soldiers gathering in Tampa (Fla.) and ships in Key West (Fla.) before deployment to Cuba, the training and deployment of Cuban refugees in Florida, naval action, the dedication of the Dewey Arch, and some images of Cuba. There are mounted contact prints for each negative. Digital images are from negatives.

Note:  Series: This group of negatives is one of three in the collection of Dwight L. Elmendorf Spanish-American War photographs. Groups are roughly arranged by intellectual content. Series titles of individual images are chiefly from original negative sleeve, occasionally also from the mounted prints, which are arranged according to subject series.
Historical: Dwight L. Elmendorf was a member of the New York Camera Club. A painter before he became a photographer, Elmendorf was known for his hand-colored lantern slides and his popular lantern slide lectures.
General: Title supplied by cataloger. Photographs are arranged chronologically by series and numbered according to numbers on original negative sleeves. Mounted contact prints are shelved under TRC-PH-1. Access to original material is restricted because of condition. Consultation requires permission of the collection curator.
