Inscription: The inside front cover of the album is inscribed, "To Col. Roosevelt, from 'A Rough Rider,' R. A. Prentice, E. Las Vegas, N. Mex., 4/12/99." Historical: Royal A. Prentice joined with a group of men from Las Vegas, New Mexico, to form Troop E of Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders (United States. Army. Volunteer Cavalry, 1st), in the spring of 1898. In June, he landed at Daiquiri (Cuba) and took part in the Cuban Campaign. Production: Cataloging and imaging funded by the Ratus Lee Kelly Fund for Houghton Library. Provenance: Gift of the Theodore Roosevelt (then Roosevelt Memorial) Association, 1943(?). Given to Theodore Roosevelt by Royal A. Prentice, 1899 April 12.
